Rockers ZZ Top set to return to Freedom Hall for Friday show
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Legendary rockers ZZ Top return to Freedom Hall on Friday. The “little ol’ band from Texas” has been touring and recording for nearly 40 years and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6. Tickets are $39 for upper-level seats, $43.50 for the lower level and $49 on the floor. Parking is $5. The band, which formed in 1969, has put out 20 albums, including seven platinum records (million-sellers) and four more gold albums. The lineup is still the original three — Billy Gibbons on guitar, lead vocals and harmonica; Dusty Hill on bass and vocals; and Frank Beard on drums. Despite ZZ Top’s long history of bestselling albums and hit videos, the group has never released a concert DVD, but that changes on June 23 when the band releases “Live From Texas.” The current tour includes stops in Atlanta, Charleston, S.C., and Chattanooga, and a date at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxvillle on June 3.
